Metals can also Smile

How hard is it to bridge emotions across simply typed and encoded emails and instant text messaging pressing? Sometimes even a symbol for sad or happy or a creatively inserted smiley is not enough to portray the sender’s emotions… well, how hard it is to crack a joke over fonts and spaces? How hard it is to rejoice or get angry just having the use of the filthy exclamatory points? Well, just some of the common ironies we encounter back from talking personally instead. The face truly launches a thousand ships, it can tell you hundred more details a text message or an email could not share.

Wish cellular phones and personal computers are really virtual duplicates of men. Well, they could be in the next few years. World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is actually working on a second draft of formalizing emotions the way computers could understand named as Emotion Markup Language which could be totally promising leading computers to really genuinely recognize the emotions of people that handle them. To include, start-up called Affectiva as co-founded by Rosalind Picard is now working on to reach emotion-sensing technology that could truly reach beyond the gap of humans and machines.

Peace of Mind

She has been arguing with her filthy bastard boyfriend for days now just because of him, buying three lemons instead of twelve intended to be used as a table centerpiece for the family dinner tonight; just a scene from the movie “The Break-up”. That lemon issue brought world war III to the couple’s condominium but they managed to live together even after they decided to live on separate ways; all these headaches, pain and tears only ended up just as the male character Gary decided to open his feelings and thoughts but later finds his girlfriend already wanting to give up. It was not a happy ending for both but it truly brought a huge gift; a rest for the heart, and peace for the mind.
As of today, Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of BlackBerry has been trying to negotiate with the Indian government security departments trying to offer deals and compromise over India’s plan of totally banning the telecommunications company just because of having heavy encryption features. But today, India’s latest development in the case have given a temporary peace of mind to RIM as the country has decided to give 60 more days to study the feasibility details for the time being.

FM tuner Mandate

The National Association of Broadcasters are pushing for mandatory FM tuner implants in mobile phones. In a CNET interview with NAB executive vice president Dennis Wharton states that the proposal is still being voted upon and that NAB is laying out a detailed proposal for the Congress. The workings are still being put on place and since there is a resistance from the hand mobile manufacturers, the advancement of the proposal is predictably a slow one. Wharton mentions that they are having discussions with phone makers for Fm tuner implants but “there’s been not much progress”. Word of advice…don’t imply that antennae length issues is not your problem because it won’t help your cause. Phone manufacturers make their profit by producing phones that are marketable and a phone that looks like a rectangular bug missing one of its sensory organs is not marketable.

The EVP said that the public will benefit from free and local radio services. That is true but who chooses FM radio broadcasts if the apps on their phone provides more alluring forms of entertainment? so, since the proposal has yet to be finalized, might we suggest that instead of steam rolling the phone industry to bend to NAB’s will, the airwaves will be much more peaceful if FM tuner in phones be made optional instead.
